Safety & Risk
In the past a near catastrophic accident with a Russian satellite has shown that reentering debris of satellites and burned stages are a potential risk for human life. Therefore the risk due to debris must be analysed in the process of design, in the operational and the post-operational phase of satellites and launch vehicles.
Our service provides the user with a variety of optimization constraints and analysis features suitable not only for early design phases but also for the ground segment.
Debris re-entry analysis based on stochastic and deterministic methods:
- DARS: deterministic with multiple breakup
- DIA: ballistic coefficient with a single breakup
Risk Analysis Module (RAM) for the computation of the casualty and fatality probability according to
the latest ESA and NASA safety guidelines.
Through an semi-automatic procedure, a Monte Carlo
analysis can be performed to compute the debris foot print.
